Way to go, Britons!

When you're occupying a country, things turn sour and try to find a way out, what would you do?

Well, one course of action is to try to get a friendly goverment in place running things, as the coalition has been trying to do in Iraq.

All fine and dandy, but the place doesn't quiet down quite as you would hope. Then a couple of your soldiers gets arrested. What do you do then?

You break into the prison with a tank, release your two soldiers (along with 150 other inmates).

*BEEP*, Wrong answer.

Municipal elections coming up

There are municipal elections coming up in a few weeks over here in Finland.

These elections has seen a remarkable raise in spamming candidates. I won’t vote for any of them (especially since I even cannot vote for them in the elections, since they live elsewhere).

Oh well.

Regarding regime change

In an NPR Diane Rehm show yesterday a few interesting points were raised: the regime change in Iraq wasn’t the first one, but yet another in a long chain of such events. Previously they were called wars, or were done covertly by supporting dissident groups.

Anyway, one of the reasons for the regime change in Iraq was that Saddam Hussein was mistreating people, like killing without trial, keeping people in prisons without any legal recourse, torturing the prisoners. Elections weren’t fair either.

Hmm. Does any of those actions sound familiar in the post Saddam world?

Talk about stupidity!

Rumsfeld bans digital cameras, camcorders and cellphones in military compounds in Iraq (http://news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,9643950%5E401,00.html).

Whooptido!

This will improve the situation of the prisoners!
